For this new mother in Iceland, 2017 got off to a surreal start.
Katrín Guðjónsdóttir and her husband wondered the night before if their son would be born in time to be the New Year’s baby, but they just laughed. It seemed to crazy – what were the odds?
Sure enough, their son was born on January 1 at three minutes past midnight. He is the first baby of the year, born at Selfoss Hospital, Southwest Iceland. The crazy part? New mother, Katrín was also Iceland’s New Year baby – born on January 1 at Selfoss Hospital in 1980.
The healthy little boy is the couple’s third child and reports say he and mom are doing well!
