Fox Is Now Streaming The Entire Series Of “The X-Files” For Free, And Here’s How You Can Watch

It seems like only yesterday that The X-Files was one of the most popular shows on TV. Premiering on Fox in 1993 and running for a whopping nine seasons until 2002, it’s a show that had everyone questioning whether they believed in aliens or not, and if, as its tagline said, “the truth is out there?”

The show starred David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson as FBI agents Fox Mulder and Dana Scully, who investigated the firm’s “X-Files” cases; unsolved cases that were claimed to involve some kind of paranormal phenomena. Mulder was a firm believer in the presence of alien life in the universe (and who claimed his sister had been abducted by aliens), while Scully was a medical doctor by trade and a complete skeptic.

The franchise has kept going sporadically even after it was canceled. A full-length movie was filmed during a hiatus between the show’s fourth and fifth seasons, while a second one was released in 2008, a full six years after the show’s cancellation. On top of that, Fox brought everyone back for a surprise 10th season in 2016!

Well, apparently this was a big enough success to get the show an 11th season, which is due out  on January 3rd, 2018. Not only that, but if you need to catch up on the series up until this point, you’re in luck: Fox has released the entire original series for free online!

The Fox Network website has now listed all ten existing seasons of The X-Files for free streaming. While the show’s already available in its entirety on streaming services like Netflix, this way you don’t even have to pay a subscription free!

Interestingly though, there are two episodes that currently appear to be exempt from this: “Paper Clip” and “731,” both from Season 3, are showing that you need a cable subscription in order to watch them. There has been no word yet on if this is an error and if it will be fixed, but even if it’s intentional, watching the entire series minus two episodes for free is pretty great.
