Macaulay Culkin Is Back As Kevin From ‘Home Alone’ And It’s Actually Amazing

It’s Christmas time, and you know what that means! It’s time to watch a family abandon their son in their home and not even call anyone to go take care of him while he fends off burglars and makes an enormous mess of their house!

That’s right, every year we all gather around the TV and watch Home Alone for the millionth time, enjoying the hilarious antics that young Kevin McCallister gets into.

Macaulay Culkin’s portrayal of the character is what made the movie work, well, that and the fact that the ‘Wet Bandits’ were pretty funny.

Culkin made a name for himself in the 90s as the “it kid.” His role in Home Alone was really just the start, but he did take a bit of a step back from the spotlight.

But in the last year, Culkin has really started to return to the forefront of our minds as he has reappeared in some new interviews. His latest project though, is on a whole other level.

Culkin has teamed up with Google to recreate the iconic movie as a commercial for the Google Assistant, and while that seems like it wouldn’t make any sense at all, when you watch it you can’t help but feel nostalgic.

Culkin wakes up in the same house, rocking those same PJs, but instead of having no one but his TalkBoy to talk to, he’s got Google Assistant.

We get to see him in a few of the iconic moments from the movie, including the aftershave bit, although he does stop short of recreating the screaming face.

He does, however, jump on the bed, but he clearly isn’t a little kid anymore and gets tired very quickly.

But he does still get to eat a gigantic bowl of ice cream and watch old movies.

When the potential burglars drive by his house, he asks the Google Assistant to begin “Operation Kevin,” which seems to activate a whole bunch of things that we all remember so well from our countless re-watches.

I know commercials are normally really cheesy and kind of annoying, but if more of them tapped into our sense of nostalgia, maybe we’d pay attention more. I don’t know about you, but I actually really enjoyed this ad!

Also, if you liked watching the video, they also released a “making of” video where Culkin revealed it was “weird” to get back into character, but it looked like he was having fun with it.

While I’m not sure that it makes me want the Google Assistant, I can tell you that I really want to go and watch Home Alone now!
