10 Movies From The 80s That Will Make You Want To Put On Your Dancing Shoes Right Away

Vestron Pictures

If there was one thing the 80s did well, it was music. They had countless hits that were constantly stuck in our heads, a bunch of one hit wonders that to this day are still pretty epic and honestly just timeless.

Luckily, they decided to capitalize on the great tunes and make a bunch of movies that weren't necessarily musicals, but were as close as you could get without your characters breaking into song. Some would sing, but others would all just break into amazing choreographed dances that were WAY too complicated to have been made up on the spot.

There were quite a few of them too!

Footloose

Parmount Pictures

Kevin Bacon danced his way into our hearts with this 80s classic, and honestly it holds up to this day. Sure, some of the things maybe look a little dated, but I would happily throw on some bright red cowboy boots and dance along with the greatest movie soundtrack ever anytime!

Xanadu

Universal Pictures

Okay, so it may have been a bit of a flop, but that doesn't mean it wasn't a fun movie. The soundtrack was a huge success because everyone wanted to dance to the fun songs so at least it had that going for it!

Beat Street

Orion Pictures

Beat Street was great because not a lot of the dance movies focused on the hip hop and break dancing world so it was super different from a lot of the stuff out there.

Girls Just Want To Have Fun

New World Pictures

This movie is an absolute classic. Whether you love it for the excellent dancing or just because Helen Hunt is a perfect and wonderful character, it's one of the most fun movies made in the 80s.

Staying Alive

Paramount Pictures

In a sequel to Saturday Night Fever, John Travolta is not a dance instructor trying to get on Broadway. The movie is actually written by Sylvester Stallone.

Feeling ready to get your boogie shoes on or do you need a bit more inspiration?

Flashdance

Paramount Pictures

She's a maniac on the dance floor and she's absolutely one that we all loved. The whole movie centers on Alex's journey to becoming a dancer and the finale audition is one that we won't forget.

Breakin'

MGM

It's another awesome break dancing movie that really stood out at the time. There weren't a lot of them, but the ones that were out were great!

Dirty Dancing

Vestron Pictures

It's probably the best of the bunch or at least a close second, because there really are few movies that have had quite the cultural impact as this one did. The dancing is great and all, but even just the general story hit us all so hard and became a lot of people's favorite movie!

Fame

MGM

The legwarmer budget for this movie must have been so intense. Fame was a great movie that followed the stories of a group of talented teens who were trying to make it in showbiz. The movie was so popular that it got turned into a great TV show that continued on in the fun Fame tradition.

Grease 2

Paramount Pictures

Yes, Grease 2 was more of a musical than a dance-specific movie, but they do have a bunch of dance routines that are way too perfect. I mean, Stephane Zinone is the coolest pink lady to ever live.

Which one of these dance movies were your favorite? Let us know in the comments!

A Behind-The-Scenes Look At The New Aladdin Is Here And At Least One Of Our Wishes Was Granted

We've been waiting patiently, okay mostly patiently, since Disney announced that Aladdin was being remade. The cartoon remains one of the most iconic movies of all time, and the fact that they were going to try and bring it to life with real humans instead of the animated versions was kind of concerning. We saw the first trailer a while ago, but the only character we actually saw up close was Aladdin himself. We didn't see how the Genie looked, or Jasmine, or any of the other characters. But now, Entertainment Weekly has given us all the first look at
