15 Comedies From The '90s That Are Funnier Than Anyone Gives Them Credit For

There are tons of movies that, while great, never quite find the audience that others do. The 90s were full of great comedies like Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery, Clueless, and Dumb and Dumber, but if you haven't seen any of these next 15, you should fix that immediately.

Bowfinger

Steve Martin wants to make his dream movie, but can't get the actor of his dreams, Eddie Murphy, to star in it. What does he do? Film him without his knowledge and hire a lookalike for the rest! It's as hilarious as it sounds.

The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert

Starring General Zod himself, Terence Stamp, as a transgender drag performer and both Hugo Weaving and Guy Pearce as their best friends, this desert-trekking adventure is as over the top as its title implies, and it's an absolute blast.

George of the Jungle

Back when Brendan Fraser seemed everywhere in Hollywood, he wowed us with this six-pack and hilarious performance as the titular take off of Tarzan.

Grosse Pointe Blank

John Cusak is an assassin (yes, really) who attends his high school reunion, where he hopes to win back Minnie Driver, the girl who got away. He just has to survive the attempts on his life by a rival hitman, played by Dan Aykroyd. It's awesome.

Half Baked

Before Dave Chappelle entertained audiences worldwide with the immensely successful Chappelle's Show, he starred in this hilarious, incredibly stupid stoner comedy that we love to this day.

Wag The Dog

Robert De Niro hires a Hollywood producer played by Dustin Hoffman to fake a war in order to distract from a presidential scandal. It's sharp, witty, and just plain great.

Some of these are pretty well known, but you probably forgot about these next few...

Honeymoon In Vegas

Nicolas Cage owes a gambling debt to James Caan, who wants Cage's fiancée, Sarah Jessica Parker, for himself. Of course, it ends with Cage parachuting into the city while dressed as Elvis, because you can't waste an opportunity like that.

Airheads

Brendan Fraser, Adam Sandler and Steve Buscemi star as a bunch of metalheads who break into a radio station and take hostages in order to get their demo played on the air. It's a mainstay on TV, and we still love it.

The Ref

Judy Davis and Kevin Spacey play a couple whose marriage is on the rocks, but everything takes a turn for the weird when Dennis Leary breaks into their house and takes them hostage. It's funnier than it sounds.

Fever Pitch

Forget the remake with Jimmy Fallon and Drew Barrymore; the original, Colin Firth-starring ode to the dangers of sports addiction is about a thousand times funnier and more endearing.

Soapdish

A hilariously over the top (and completely fictional) look at the behind the scenes antics of making a soap opera, this movie has a star-studded cast, featuring Sally Field, Kevin Kline, Elizabeth Shue, Whoopi Goldberg, and Robert Downey Jr.

Don't Tell Mom The Babysitter's Dead

Christina Applegate proves she's one of the funniest actresses ever as a 17-year-old who has to get a job after her siblings' caretaker dies while their parents are on vacation. The jokes pretty much write themselves.

So I Married An Axe Murderer

Right after Wayne's World but right before Austin Powers, Mike Myers stars in this comedy where he's pretty sure his wife is actually a serial killer. You wouldn't think this would be good fodder for a comedy, but it works!

Orgazmo

The same year that South Park premiered, Matt Stone and Trey Parker unleashed this cinematic weirdness on the world, in which a young adult Mormon must star in adult films. It's crude, it's nuts, and it's essential viewing for South Park fans.

Dick

Michelle Williams and Kirsten Dunst take a tour of the White House, only to accidentally help bring down President Richard Nixon. Yes, you read that correctly.

A Behind-The-Scenes Look At The New Aladdin Is Here And At Least One Of Our Wishes Was Granted

We've been waiting patiently, okay mostly patiently, since Disney announced that Aladdin was being remade. The cartoon remains one of the most iconic movies of all time, and the fact that they were going to try and bring it to life with real humans instead of the animated versions was kind of concerning. We saw the first trailer a while ago, but the only character we actually saw up close was Aladdin himself. We didn't see how the Genie looked, or Jasmine, or any of the other characters. But now, Entertainment Weekly has given us all the first look at

Tim Allen Reveals The Original Plan For 'The Santa Clause' Was Way Too Dark For Disney

We've all seen The Santa Clause at least a dozen times, right? It's a Christmas classic and ever since it was released, it has become a staple in our holiday movie schedule. There's something about the movie that manages to keep that Christmas feeling without being way too over the top or corny. I mean, sure, Tim Allen literally becomes Santa, but somehow it all feels like that's totally plausible. The sequels may not have the same realistic feeling, but the original remains iconic. However, Allen just revealed that the original plan for the movie was a lot darker than
