10 Cartoon Characters That Annoyed Us So Much We Almost Stopped Watching TV

It seems like every cartoon we ever watched needed a character whose sole purpose was to piss us off, and in the case of these 10, they were very, VERY good at it.

Tiny Toon Adventures - Elmyra Duff

Warner Bros.

I almost want to cut her some slack because she's a young girl who loves animals and clearly doesn't know any better, but good lord was she annoying for every second of her existence. Not only that, but hurting animals isn't exactly a great way to win any love from the audience.

The Flintstones - The Great Gazoo

Hanna-Barbera

You know your show's running out of ideas when you introduce an alien that can warp reality at will and that only one or two of the characters can see. Gazoo's antics were annoying enough, but his pompous voice just made him the worst.

Arthur - D.W. Read

PBS

D.W. was basically every bratty sister combined into one character. Tattle-tale? Check. Cries when called out on her BS? Check. Constantly snooping into things that don't concern her? Check. Ugh, she's awful.

Dexter's Laboratory - Dee Dee

Cartoon Network

It has to be hard to be a six-year-old kid with the mind of a genius, and it's gotta be even worse when your sister is a constant terror. Every time Dexter had a new invention or experiment in the works, you could bet that Didi would show up and ruin it.

Sure, she cared about her brother and was mostly just dumb, but it was hard not to want her to just go away.

The characters just get worse from here folks...

Caillou - Caillou

Nelvana

This bald-headed French Canadian abomination is the whiniest, most entitled brat to ever (dis)grace our TV screens, and even as a kid it was pretty much impossible to like him or how much he mouthed off to his parents.

Rugrats - Angelica Pickles

Nickelodeon

Unlike a lot of other characters on the list, you're kinda supposed to hate Angelica. She's mean (borderline psychotic even), she's spoiled, she speaks in perpetual screams, and above all else, she's obsessed with a crappy doll. Even when the kids all grow up, she's still the worst.

X-Men - Jubilee

Fox

Meant to be a surrogate for the "hip and young" crowd that Fox wanted to cater the show to, Jubilee just ended up being completely annoying. Between her terrible lingo, lame superpowers, and her constant need to be rescued, it's no wonder every other character was more popular.

Max and Ruby - Max and Ruby

Nelvana

Max is spoiled and Ruby's a bossy enabler. Nuff said.

Transformers - Starscream

Hasbro

Between his screechy voice and constant, CONSTANT attempts to try to usurp Megatron as the leader of the Decepticons, it's a miracle Megatron ever even bothered to keep him around, let alone make him second-in-command over much better characters like Soundwave and Barricade.

Scooby-Doo - Scrappy-Doo

Hanna-Barbera

The ultimate in unnecessary, annoying, and just plain hateable characters, Scrappy-Doo is easily one of the worst sidekicks in cartoon history. He was so bad they even made him a villain in the live-action Scooby-Doo movies!

Between his cocky attitude, perpetual getting himself and others into dangerous situations, and his lame-ass "puppy power" catchphrase, we really wish one of the show's monsters would just punt him back to the Stone Age... preferably with him landing on the Great Gazoo, killing both.

What character used to drive you insane?

'Beverly Hills: 90210' Revival Looks Like It Will Feature A Lot Of Familiar Faces

Who else remembers planning their entire week based on when Beverly Hills: 90210 was going to be on TV? It wasn't like we could record it easily, blank VHS tapes were pricey, so we had to watch it when it was on or miss out. Watching Brenda, Kelly, Dylan, Brandon, Donna, and everyone else hand out and get into all kinds of mayhem was the highlight of our weeks. When it ended, we were all a bit sad, but then they brought it back with a new spin-off.  The new show tried to catch that same teen spirit, but

'SpongeBob SquarePants' Creator Stephen Hillenburg Dies At 57

It's a sad day in the world of cartoons, as Nickelodeon has confirmed the passing of SpongeBob SquarePants creator Steven Hillenburg. The iconic TV show writer and producer with a long career and a hand in creating a lot of our favorite moments in animation. Hillenburg actually didn't go to school for television writing, instead studying "Natural Resource Planning and Interpretation with an emphasis on marine resources" according to Variety. Obviously, this would come into play later in his career. He started working in television after going back to school to study Experimental Animation, and eventually became a writer and

It doesn't matter if you're reading the book or watching one of the many movies based on one of his novels, because Dahl's ability to create these magical little worlds manages to transcend format and remain enjoyable no matter what.Dahl's characters are nothing short of iconic. Die Hard's Reginald VelJohnson Reveals How Al Powell Got Him Cast On Family Matters

Watching Die Hard is like watching a little piece of history. It truly has remained one of the greatest movies of all time no matter how much time passes. Maybe we didn't know how special it was when we first saw it, but as the decades go on, it has become clear that it's a true classic that is basically required viewing for every single person. Everyone obviously thinks of Bruce Willis when they think about Die Hard, which makes sense because he embodies John McClane in a way that makes him feel real, but he's not the only iconic

Trailer For New Nickelodeon Documentary Has Your 90s Favorites Spilling All The Secrets

Nickelodeon wasn't just a television network, it was basically a generation. Kids all over the country were bonded in this weird little family, obsessing over shows that our parents just couldn't possibly understand. They were for us. They weren't made to appeal to our parents, they were made for our enjoyment and so we felt a special connection to them unlike any other shows. Nickelodeon is still going strong today, but it's hard to remember that there was a time before the iconic kids network came around. The company may be a juggernaut now, but how did it get started?

"Sunny day! Sweepin' the clouds away! On my way to where the air is sweet! Can you tell me how to get, how to get to Sesame Street?" It's a song we all know off by heart no matter how old we are now because it was literally one of the most important parts of our days. Sesame Street was a staple in almost every household. Those Muppets were our teachers and our friends before we made our way into elementary school or daycare, and they gave us a lot of life lessons that taught us how to be a
