Brandy Was A Huge Star In The 90s, But How Has She Kept Her Career Going Since Her Infamous Car Accident?

She became a huge hit when her song "I Wanna Be Down" came out when she was only 15 years old, but it feels like it has been years since we have seen Brandy. The R&B singer found success in not only the music industry, but as an actress as well.

Brandy starred in the popular show Moesha, for all six seasons. She made her big screen debut in the movie I Know What You Did Last Summer, and also starred in a made-for-TV version of Cinderella.

All the while, her albums were coming out roughly every couple of years, and had a fair amount of success every time. Remember her hit song "The Boy Is Mine"? Of course you do, we all do. It was one of the most popular songs of the decade!

It seemed like her career was on track to helping her become one of the biggest stars in the world, but it feels like it has been a while since we have seen her. What happened to her, and what is the truth behind that fatal car crash she was involved in...

Brandy continued releasing music until 2012, but it feels like she has taken a step back from the spotlight. It's possible that there are just so many other huge names now that the former 90s star just doesn't hold the same clout, but maybe it has to do with the dramatic incident that happened back in 2006.

On December 30, 2006, Brandy drove her Land Rover into the back of a car. This caused a chain reaction, causing a car to slide into the divider before it was struck by another car. The collision ended up being fatal for the driver of the car she hit, but Brandy was unharmed.

Investigations found that Brandy was not responsible for the death, but at the time she was facing up to a year in jail for vehicular manslaughter. The woman she hit was a mother of two, and Brandy had an understandably hard time dealing with the trauma of knowing she contributed to the cause of death.

At the time, a witness said that "she got upset, talking about how it was all her fault ... She didn't stop, kept saying how she hit the lady," he said. "Brandy walked in front of traffic, crossing the lanes of speeding cars, then she did it again. People were honking at her to get out of the road. She was obviously disoriented and highly upset."

Years later she spoke out about the incident to Oprah. “Being involved in something that tragic... I couldn’t believe it,” she said. “I don’t think that’s something I could ever get over or ever truly understand, but that was one of the worst times in my life.”

She turned to God to try and understand the situation. “I realized that God is real,” Brandy said. “Because I had no one else to turn to. I had no one else to depend on.”

However, now that the lawsuit has been settled, she has managed to find her way back to her passions of music and acting. She was in a Broadway production of Chicago, she was has been in a few movies, and she also returned to television.

Hopefully Brandy has been able to find peace with the accident, and can continue to make all the wonderful music and shows we all love.

A Behind-The-Scenes Look At The New Aladdin Is Here And At Least One Of Our Wishes Was Granted

We've been waiting patiently, okay mostly patiently, since Disney announced that Aladdin was being remade. The cartoon remains one of the most iconic movies of all time, and the fact that they were going to try and bring it to life with real humans instead of the animated versions was kind of concerning. We saw the first trailer a while ago, but the only character we actually saw up close was Aladdin himself. We didn't see how the Genie looked, or Jasmine, or any of the other characters. But now, Entertainment Weekly has given us all the first look at
