'Clarissa Explains It All' Reboot Is Apparently In The Works, And Melissa Joan Hart Is Involved
We first met Melissa Joan Hart in 1991 when she stepped onto the scene as Clarissa Darling. She was cool, unique, and iconic in her time. She's credited as the first female lead of a Nickelodeon show, and because of her they were able to make many other hit series like The Secret World of Alex Mack and The Amanda Show.
But Clarissa was truly one-of-a-kind. I mean, how many people do you know who owned a baby alligator named Elvis?
Her show was different then a lot of others, because she would directly address the audience. She dealt with things that we were all going through, like crushes, jobs, and homework, so it was really relatable to us kids.
Honestly, a big selling point was that her outfits were absolutely epic.
The show was on for five seasons, and in 65 episodes we all became completely obsessed with her. But now, after being off the air for 24 years, Clarissa Darling is coming back.
Nickelodeon recently announced that Blue's Clues, their hugely successful kid's show would be back for a reboot, and apparently that's not the only show that the popular network has its eye on.
This wouldn't be the only time that we would return to Clarissa, as in 2015, the series creator, Mitchell Kriegman, wrote a novel called Things I Can't Explain, which followed Clarissa into her late 20s. While a lot of people may not have realized that this book existed, this new series will be a little bit more well known, especially if Melissa Joan Hart herself joins back in.
And so far, the rumors are looking good...
Another one of the shows that Hart led, Sabrina the Teenage Witch, is getting a darker reboot, but that's not the one that she is interested in revisiting.
"I like the way we left Sabrina. I think Sabrina ended on a really great note, and I don't think you want to go back and explore that. At the same time, I think Clarissa ended on a note that could be explored again, because it didn't really have an ending — it sort of ended," Hart said to THR.
Well, I guess Kriegman heard that and thought that she had a good point and now they are apparently in talks to bring it back!
The sources say that Clarissa will be back, this time as a mom! Apparently Hart will reprise her role and also sign on as an executive producer.
Nickelodeon hasn't commented on the rumors, but if it's true, that will be pretty exciting! We will find out how many kids she had, what she's been up to, and if her pet alligator is still alive somewhere.
We'll keep you posted if we find out more, but let us know what you'd want to see in a reboot!
