'Men In Black' Reboot Reveals Who They've Cast As The Stars Of The New Movie

I know, I know, no more reboots! Everyone is sick of our favorite movies getting made over and over again, but Hollywood seems to be out of ideas and they've got to make something. This time it's going to be a remake of arguably the best Will Smith movie ever: Men In Black.

Sony plans to go the Jurassic World route, and introduce new characters in the already established world. So I guess it's not so much a reboot as a spin-off. The new movie is not set to feature either Tommy Lee Jones's Agent K or Will Smith's Agent J, but instead build on the world and introduce new agents.

They are saying that isn't going to be the same buddy-cop style, and that instead of just having two stars, it'll feature an ensemble cast. The Hollywood Reporter also says that it "will be more global in scope."

It's set to be written by Matt Holloway and Art Marcum, who are the two geniuses behind the original Iron Man movie that launched the Marvel Cinematic Universe. So clearly they know how to create a franchise.

Sony has been trying to get a foothold into the "franchise" world for a while now. They've tried before with their Spiderman movies, but they never turned out as good as anyone wanted.

We don't know whether or not Agents K or J will make an appearance, but we do know who will be taking over...

Originally there had been talks that the Men In Black sequel would crossover with 21 Jump Street, but Jonah Hill revealed that wasn't the plan anymore.

"They’re trying to make all the deals, but it’s kind of impossible with all the Men in Black stuff,” Jonah Hill said to the Toronto Sun. “The Jump Street films were so fun to make and the whole joke of them was they were making fun of remakes and sequels and reboots and then now it’s become a giant sequel, reboot. It’s almost become what we were making fun of and it’s hard to maintain that joke when it’s so high stakes.”

Instead, it's a completely separate thing, and now we know who will be starring in it.

It's actually not just the writers who are Marvel movie alums. The two stars who have currently signed on are Chris Hemswoth and Tessa Thompson.

Chris Hemsworth has been playing Thor for several years now, across all the Marvel movies. While Tessa Thompson just joined into the MCU, playing Valkyrie in Thor: Ragnarok.

The two played off of each other really well, and if you haven't seen the movie I cannot recommend it enough. It's easily one of the greatest movies in the entire Marvel universe.

But now that two Marvel writers are teaming up with two Marvel stars, it'll be interesting to see if Sony can bank on some of that star power.

Are you interested in seeing where they go with Men In Black? Or do you wish that they would just leave it well enough alone?
