You Probably Can't Do These Popular 90s Dance Moves

The 90s were a pretty magical time. Everyone's hair was just starting to recover from the excessive perms, shoulder pads took it down a notch, and boy bands were blossoming.

One of the greatest things about the 90s, was how many amazing and hilariously ridiculous dances there were to learn. How many of these dances did you learn?

Achy Breaky Heart

       Giphy

Long before Miley was trying to twerk up a storm, her dad was giving up the resurgence of line dancing. Everyone knew the words and would learn the line dance as much as they could. Who could resist that mullet?

Tootsee Roll

Now slide, slide, slide, slide!

Voguing

       Giphy

When this song came out in 1990 it was really a god send for people who didn't have the most rhythm. Instead of having to figure out how to move your arms and legs, you just had to figure out the arm part! So much less pressure!

Roger Rabbit Dance

The Roger Rabbit dance was named after the rabbit because of the floppy movements. It's kind of like the moonwalk only more silly.

Cha Cha Slide

       Giphy

You have to love a song with the instructions as the lyrics. It just makes it so much easily for those of us who are perhaps not as coordinated.

Cotton-Eyed Joe

This song has been around for a long time, but in 1994 a new version came out that weaseled its way into every preteen dance known to the country.

The Electric Slide

It came out in 1989 technically, but it was still just as popular through the 90s. It's like line dancing but with more neon.

The Urkel Dance

       Giphy

He tells you exactly how to dance the famous dance:"If you want to do the Steve Urkel dance,All you have to do is hitch up your pants,Bend your knees, and stick out your pelvis;(I'm telling you, baby, it's better than Elvis!)".

Hammer Time

       Giphy

Those pants, that vest, those moves. Just so 90s is almost hurts.

The Carlton

       Giphy

I feel like everyone knows this dance even if they never watched the show. It's too iconic not to remember!

And of course: The Macarena

       Giphy

You show me a person who doesn't know the Macarena and I will show you a liar! Everyone knew it, and everyone got bored of it about 30 seconds into the song but it would go on for a solid five minutes.

Which of these dances was your favorite? How many of them do you still do when you go out dancing? More than you'd like to admit I bet!
