The Best '90s TV Shows to Binge While You're Stuck at Home

We're all stuck at home to some extent now, whether we like it or not. And what better way to spend your time at home than watching your favorite shows on Netflix or Hulu? While the appeal is immense, sometimes it can be tough to make a choice with all of the content that's out there. So if you're stuck scrolling through your options, here are a few throwbacks that are perfect for binge-watching.

Freaks and Geeks

Though this show only ran for one season, it's a cult classic among people who were teens in the '90s. With a star-studded cast that included the likes of Jason Segel, Seth Rogan, and James Franco, this coming of age show has been lauded for its realistic portrayal of youth during the '90s. Almost all of the members of the cast have gone on to become big screen sensations, but they all began their careers on this show. So whether you're 18 and eating candy or you want to have a bowl of popcorn and reminisce about how connected you felt to these actors during your youth, this is an awesome show to binge. And since it's only one season, you'll probably make your way through it pretty quickly.

Sabrina the Teenage Witch

You'd be hard-pressed to find someone who hasn't heard of Sabrina the Teenage Witch. Complete with teenage romance, funny side characters, and a sassy black cat, this show is the perfect blend of '90s youth and fantasy. You'll also probably recognize a familiar face in the lead role of Sabrina Spellman: Melissa Joan Hart. Hart has gone on to complete a number of big projects since this show aired, but she'll always be remembered as the quirky teenage witch who could cast spells with a snap of her fingers. While we can't all turn on the lights or save money on energy bills with a snap of our fingers, it's always a good time to watch this classic and welcome just a little bit of magic into your home.

That '70s Show

While this show might be set in the '70s, it started airing in 1998 and exists as a fond memory that spans multiple generations. The series follows a group of six teenage friends who live in the suburbs of Wisconsin during the 1970s. Full of funny quips and heartfelt moments, this is a perfect show to binge if you haven't already seen it. And as an added bonus, you'll get to see just how young Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis were when they began their acting careers. The pair have gone on to complete a number of hugely successful projects since, but you'll always be able to look back fondly on how they got their start when you revisit this series.

The X-Files

If you're interested in a long-haul binge-watching marathon, this is the show to start with. Complete with 11 total seasons to watch, you'll be entertained for a long time here. If you're unfamiliar, the show follows the careers and personal lives of Fox Mulder and Dana Scully, two FBI Special Agents. While some episodes carry a longer arc throughout the series, fan favorites also include "monster of the week" episodes that were common on the show. This series has a serious fan following, so if you have questions, there's almost always someone who can answer them online. If you're in the mood to get spooky with Scully and Mulder, this is the show for you to binge while you're at home.

Friends

Is there a '90s show list in existence that doesn't include Friends? We certainly can't find any. Lauded as one of the most binge-able shows that ever aired on television, Friends follows a group of friends as they navigate their 20s and 30s in New York City. This series is full of funny moments and emotional performances. If you want a little bit of everything, this is the show for you. And with 10 seasons available to stream, you'll be enjoying time with the gang at Central Perk and other classic settings for a while.

Although there's proof that vacation time improves performance at work, it's hard to feel like you're on a vacation right now.
