The Internet Has Given Us The 'Sesame Street' And Beastie Boys Mashup We Never Knew We Needed

PBS / Sony

It's impossible to overstate just how iconic a song "Sabotage" by Beastie Boys is. The main single from their fourth album, "Ill Communication," routinely ends up featured on lists of "The Greatest Songs Of All Time" by music review outlets. It remained a staple of the band's live set, and was often their closing song.

While it was a moderate success when it came out (the album hit No. 1 on the Billboard Chart), it's only become more popular in the years since its release. This is especially thanks to it being featured in movies like the reboot franchise of Star Trek (where it's essentially become Captain James T. Kirk's theme song) and shows like Futurama and Family Guy.

Even more iconic was the song's music video. Directed by Spike Jonze (who would later go on to become Hollywood royalty by directing films such as Being John Malkovich, Adaptation, and Her), the video stars the Boys as cast members of a fictional 1970s cop drama called "Sabotage," which basically entails them running around a blowing a bunch of stuff up.

The video holds up great to this day, and one has to wonder how you could possibly make it better. Well, Youtuber Adam Schleichkorn (AKA "isthishowyougoviral") did the impossible and found a way.

His solution? Use Sesame Street.

Schleichkorn decided to essentially recut the entire original "Sabotage" video using footage from Sesame Street movies and TV episodes. You would think this would be next to impossible, but the results are actually pretty amazing.

How cool is that? He actually manages to keep the pace, tone, and even look of the original video. The shoutouts to it in the form of the character names are pretty great too.

Schlechkorn's won a Webby award for his other video mashups, all of which can be found on his Youtube channel! Here's a few of our favorites.

What other songs would you love to see mashed up with old shows from your childhood?
