8 TV Shows That Were Cancelled Way Too Soon

It can be disheartening to get too involved with your favorite TV shows. The television landscape changes so frequently and suddenly that you can find yourself depressed that your favorite show wont be coming back for another season.

These cancellations can happen in the blink of an eye, and it can hit people quite hard. Here are 8 shows that I feel were cancelled before their time was truly up.

1. Futurama

Futurama first landed on televisions across America in 1999. After four seasons it was cancelled, but was later brought back for an additional season. It has been cancelled on a couple of occasions but always seems to be resurrected in some form or fashion. It was finally put to rest after the seventh season, and that had a lot of fans fuming. If  other shows similar too it like: American Dad, The Simpsons, and Family Guy can last for decades, why not Futurama?

The Natterbox

2. Angel

This spin-off from Buffy the Vampire Slayer was "situationally" cancelled. After the fifth season, creator Joss Whedon went to the network to try and get them to guarantee another season early so that he could keep everyone working on the show employed. It was this that undid the show, the network's hands were tied and they had no other choice, even though the show was still putting up impressive numbers from a ratings standpoint.

3. Dinosaurs

If you were growing up in the early 90s, you likely loved this show. No one is really sure what caused the show's producers to decide to only run it for three seasons, but of all the shows on this list, it definitely had the most depressing final episode of all time. The series closed with the Sinclair family knowing that they were all about to die...

Behind The Voice Actors

4. Dead Like Me

The show followed two characters as they worked as grim reapers in Seattle, Washington. "George" dies in the first episode of the series and then spends the rest of the series working to remove people's souls just before they die, and move them on to the afterlife. The show was cancelled due to a "lack of quality" and they thought that those problems would only increase over time. Either way it was a great show while it lasted.

The next four shows were just as a good, if not better than these...

5. Deadwood

Deadwood was set in the wild-west of the United States, except the town was not part of any American state as of yet. It was a lawless society of greed and violence where everyone was looking to get rich from the gold-rush. It only lasted three seasons, but they were three great seasons that could have been extended into multiple others.

The AV Club

6. Freaks and Geeks

Why this show was cancelled so early, we will never know. It was great and helped launch the comedic careers of Seth Rogen, James Franco, Samm Levine, and Jason Segal. Having those four in a movie these days would make it quite the blockbuster. These high school misfits are doing everything they can to survive the trials and tribulations of being a teenager in the 1980s.

7. Clone High

So maybe it wouldn't have lasted forever, but Clone High was damn funny while it was on. It told the story of historical figures who were cloned and resurrected just so that they could attend high school like normal American teenagers. The cast included: Abe Lincoln, Gandhi, JFK, Joan of Arc, and Cleopatra.

8. Roswell

Another coming-of-age teen drama... but this time it was set in Roswell, New Mexico, and it revolved around three teenage aliens who are trying to remain hidden in plain sight. Eventually one of their classmates discovers their secret and is then brought in on the conspiracy as they try to stay hidden, along with finding out who they are and where they came from. It could have gone well past the three seasons it was on air.

It wasn't like we could record it easily, blank VHS tapes were pricey, so we had to watch it when it was on or miss out. Watching Brenda, Kelly, Dylan, Brandon, Donna, and everyone else hand out and get into all kinds of mayhem was the highlight of our weeks. When it ended, we were all a bit sad, but then they brought it back with a new spin-off.  The new show tried to catch that same teen spirit, but

Obviously, this would come into play later in his career. He started working in television after going back to school to study Experimental Animation, and eventually became a writer and

Watching Die Hard is like watching a little piece of history. It truly has remained one of the greatest movies of all time no matter how much time passes. Maybe we didn't know how special it was when we first saw it, but as the decades go on, it has become clear that it's a true classic that is basically required viewing for every single person. Trailer For New Nickelodeon Documentary Has Your 90s Favorites Spilling All The Secrets

Nickelodeon wasn't just a television network, it was basically a generation. Kids all over the country were bonded in this weird little family, obsessing over shows that our parents just couldn't possibly understand. They were for us. They weren't made to appeal to our parents, they were made for our enjoyment and so we felt a special connection to them unlike any other shows. Nickelodeon is still going strong today, but it's hard to remember that there was a time before the iconic kids network came around. The company may be a juggernaut now, but how did it get started?

It's a song we all know off by heart no matter how old we are now because it was literally one of the most important parts of our days. Sesame Street was a staple in almost every household.
