10 Facts You Didn't Know About The Movie That Absolutely Put A Spell On You

I think we can all agree that Hocus Pocus is one of the greatest Halloween movies ever. Sure, there are a bunch of spooky movies you could watch, but none will ever be able to hold a candle to this classic.

It has remained a top pick by basically all 90s kids since it came out. So while we all pretend that the upcoming TV movie isn't happening, we should probably learn more about how this amazing movie was made.

The producer of the movie came up with the idea for his daughters

Billy was supposed to call Winifred a "bitch"

Doug Jones, the actor who played Billy thought it was too much so he went with "wench" instead.

They used real moths in that scene, but just put a barrier so the bugs wouldn't go into his throat.

There were nine cats to play Thackery Binx

He was voiced by Jason Marsden who actually also voiced Max in The Goofy Movie, but each cat had a different skill depending on what they needed.

Even though Jason Marsden voices Thackery Binx, he isn't the human version

That is played by Sean Murray. He was supposed to be the original voice of the cat, but they thought it should sound like a more old fashioned voice. Marsden had to dub over all of Murray's lines so the cat's voice would be the same as the boy.

Sarah Jessica Parker's real life ancestors were witches

Or at least they were accused of being. She was on the should Who Do You Think You Are? in 2004 and found out her 10th great-grandmother was arrested in Salem for committing "sundry acts of witchcraft". She was never convicted but it's a crazy connection to her past!

Bette Midler says that Winifred Sanderson is her favorite character she has ever played
