The Cast Of "A Christmas Story, Live!" Has Been Revealed

On December 17th, you'll be able to watch your favorite Christmas movie on TV, only this time it will be live!

Fox is at it once again, putting on a live production of A Christmas Story. They jumped on the live musical bandwagon in 2016, with their version of Grease. The reviews were solid, so now they want to see how far they can push their luck.

For those of you who don't know A Christmas Story (where have you been for the last 34 years?), the movie is about nine-year-old Ralphie Parker and his family, who are just trying to get through the holiday season without any major disasters. The movie takes place in the 1940s, but it stands the test of time. All Ralphie wants is a Red Ryder Carbine Action 200-shot Range Model air rifle and he'll stop at nothing to get it.

Variety

The movie was such a classic, it was turned into a Broadway musical in 2012. It garnered three Tony Award nominations, including Best Musical. The live TV production will be based off both the movie and the Broadway show, and will feature some new songs.

But the most important question we need to ask: who will actually be in this production? Fox finally filled us in, and it's kind of unexpected.

Andy Walken as Ralphie Parker

There was a nation-wide search conducted for the lead role of Ralphie, but they finally nabbed 11-year-old Andy Walken for the part. His first acting credit was in 2015 with a part on NCIS, and he's also appeared in Heartbeat, The Most Hated Woman in America and Escaping Dad.

Maya Rudolph as Mother Parker

Biography

She spent seven seasons on Saturday Night Live, and killed us with laughter with her role in Bridesmaids. Now, Maya Rudolph will appear as Ralphie's loving mom, Mother Parker.

Matthew Broderick as Adult Ralphie

Hollywood

Matthew Broderick's talents will be welcomed to the production as Adult Ralphie, who narrates the entire story. However, in the film we never actually see Adult Ralphie, we just see him. It's unclear whether or not this will change for the TV production.

Jane Krakowski as Miss Shields

ABC News

Known for her work on 30 Rock and Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, Jane Krakowski will play Ralphie's teacher. She's no stranger to the stage, however. Krakowski won a Tony Award for her role in the Broadway musical, Nine.

Chris Diamantopoulos as Old Man Parker

24 Spoilers

Chris Diamantopoulos will appear in the production as Ralphie's dad. He's appeared on many TV shows, most recently the HBO smash hit Silicon Valley. He's also appeared in Good Girls Revolt, Episodes, Hannibal, The Office, Arrested Development, 24, and the Broadway musical, Waitress.

Ana Gasteyer as Mrs. Schwartz

TV Guide

The Saturday Night Live alum will appear as the mother to Ralphie's friend, Schwartz. Gasteyer was in Fox's production of Grease in 2016 and has also appeared in the Broadway productions of The Rocky Horror Show, The Royal Family and Wicked.

Top 5 Movies Set in Las Vegas

There’s something about Las Vegas that has always made it a place of great fascination for filmmakers. One of the main reasons has to be the way it looks – quite unlike anywhere else on earth. With the flashing signs that can be picked out by orbiting spacecraft and the sheer investment that has gone into creating this amazing oasis in the heart of the Nevada Desert it’s a film set that’s already been built. The fact that it’s only a relatively short distance from Hollywood itself – an hour by plane – is also strongly in its favour

The Evolution of the NFL

The NFL may be the single biggest sports league in the world, but it’s been a long and winding route to reach this point. Many of the major changes that have brought us here have taken place in the last thirty years, but none of these could have happened without what had gone before. For example, while there are now 32 teams split between the National Football League and the American Football Conference, this division dates back to merger that occurred in 1970 between the NFL and its rival the American Football League. And, while there have been countless
