8 Of Your Favorite '90s Childhood Shows Will Be Making A Comeback Soon
We've recently been seeing revivals, reboots, remakes, and spinoffs of some of our favorite childhood shows.
In 2017, Hey! Arnold returned on Nickelodeon, a reboot of DuckTales premiered in August, and Riverdale, which is a series based on the characters of Archie Comics, aired on Netflix.
There are still some of our favorite childhood shows that deserve to make a comeback, and your countless prayers after those shows ended have finally been answered.
1. Animaniacs
Everyone's favorite '90s cartoon variety show was entertaining, educational, and downright hilarious. According to news sources, Warner Bros. is developing a reboot for Animaniacs. The details are still in its infancy, but it's rumored that the revival may end up on Netflix, like what happened to Fuller House.
2. Rocko's Modern Life
Rocko, Heffer, and Filburt are blasting back to Earth after being plunged into outer space in 1996. The cartoon will be one-hour TV film, called Rocko’s Modern Life: Static Cling, and will air on Nickelodeon in 2018. Watching this as a kid was entertaining and hilarious, but you probably missed many of the adult jokes, so I doubt this movie will disappoint.
3. Roseanne
Everyone can agree that the final season of Roseanne was a little weird. It's been two decades since the last episode aired and we're still thinking about it to this day. Lucky for us, Roseanne is returning to ABC for a nine-episode revival in 2018.
The best part is that the entire cast will be back, including John Goodman. We're not sure how that's going to work, since he died in the final season, but I'm sure they'll come up with something believable. There will also be some new characters, so this revival will be exciting.
The new Roseanne is expected to premier at the end of March 2018.
You'll be jumping up and down to learn that these next five shows will be returning soon!
4. Sabrina the Teenage Witch
The future just got a little more magical. Sabrina will be back in a new adaptation of the comics, which are based on the Archie Comics series. The adventures are said to be darker than the family-friendly sitcom, so it will probably be something along the lines of Netflix's Riverdale. We're not sure when the revival will premier and whether Melissa Joan Hart will make an appearance on the show, but it's possible that Netflix will cash in on this series.
5. Carmen Sandiego
There were many variations of Carmen Sandiego's characters, like in Where in Time Is Carmen Sandiego? and Where on Earth Is Carmen Sandiego?, but all you need to know is that this beloved character is coming back. This time the main focus will be on Carmen and where she comes from, but it's said to still be educational.
Gina Rodriguez will voice Carmen, and Finn Wolfhard will play her sidekick. The show is coming to Netflix in 2019.
6. Sister, Sister
Twin sisters Tia and Tamera Mowry who were separated at birth to find each other later in life was just the plot line we needed in the '90s. It aired for six seasons, but to be honest that wasn't enough. Although a reboot hasn't been officially announced, Tia said in an interview in November 2017 that meetings are taking place.
“We are being told that they want it to be or happen next year in the fall,” she said. “So, it’s going by so fast, everything.”
7. The Wild Thornberrys
Eliza was living our childhood dream in Nickelodeon's The Wild Thornberrys. She traveled the world and talked to animals, her life was a blast! MoviePilot reported that a revival is in the works, but Nickelodeon hasn't shared any updates.
8. Party of Five
Although our favorite '90s actors won't be part of the show, the reboot will focus on a Latino family that has immigrated to the U.S. That being said, the family will still have five siblings whose parents die at the beginning of the show, just like what happened in the original. Creators Chris Keyser and Amy Lippman are developing the project for Sony Pictures Television Studios, but they haven't announced which network the new Party of Five will appear on.
