Man Was Confused About Harry Potter Books, Turns Out He Was Reading Something Else

Warner Bros.

Harry Potter is one of the biggest franchises in the world. The books have been out for a long time now and while it may seem like everyone has read them, there are still a lot of people who are being introduced to them for the first time.

You would think that jumping into the Potter-verse would be easy enough to follow, seeing as how it's literally everywhere, but apparently it can be a little trickier than expected.

Chris Chappell wanted to get into the Harry Potter books. He had never seen any of the movies or read a single page before but he downloaded a digital copy of the books and started reading.

Giphy

He made it through the first four books no problem, but when he got to The Order of the Phoenix he had to ask his friend some questions.

Shelley Zhang, Chappell's friend, got some of the strangest and funniest text messages imaginable and shared them with us all.

It started out with a simple question at first:

But then as it continued the story proved to be pretty insane.

The thing was, poor Chappell's downloaded copy was playing a crazy joke on him that he had no idea.

Warner Bros.

The four first books were the proper versions, but they replaced the fifth book with a raunchy fan-written version that completely changed EVERYTHING.

Seriously, it just gets weirder as it goes on. Check out the next page to see some all of the crazy details of this fake version!

So after Zhang got the books she realized what had happened and it's hilarious to see poor Chappell try to parse out of any of the facts from this false version he read.

Giphy

This fanfiction was VERY detailed.

Giphy

There is a lot of different fanfiction stories out there, but this guy read an entire novel-size version thinking it was the real thing. It's pretty hard to wrap your head around right?

Giphy

When he really started to accept that his version was the wrong one, he got worried that he wouldn't like the real one as much.

And Zhang couldn't help but trick him a little bit, asking him to recap the fourth book just to make sure that one was okay.

Finally, she asked how he didn't realize that this wasn't real and his answer was a bit surprising.

A Behind-The-Scenes Look At The New Aladdin Is Here And At Least One Of Our Wishes Was Granted

We've been waiting patiently, okay mostly patiently, since Disney announced that Aladdin was being remade. The cartoon remains one of the most iconic movies of all time, and the fact that they were going to try and bring it to life with real humans instead of the animated versions was kind of concerning. We saw the first trailer a while ago, but the only character we actually saw up close was Aladdin himself. We didn't see how the Genie looked, or Jasmine, or any of the other characters. But now, Entertainment Weekly has given us all the first look at

Tim Allen Reveals The Original Plan For 'The Santa Clause' Was Way Too Dark For Disney

We've all seen The Santa Clause at least a dozen times, right? It's a Christmas classic and ever since it was released, it has become a staple in our holiday movie schedule. There's something about the movie that manages to keep that Christmas feeling without being way too over the top or corny. I mean, sure, Tim Allen literally becomes Santa, but somehow it all feels like that's totally plausible. The sequels may not have the same realistic feeling, but the original remains iconic. However, Allen just revealed that the original plan for the movie was a lot darker than
