8 Secrets From The Making Of Kim Possible That Will Blow Your Mind
Kim Possible was a great show. It was one of the first Disney cartoons that showcased a strong female lead who was known for whooping ass. The show ran from 2002 - 2007 and was among the favorites of a generation.
But as good as the show was, there were some strange things going on behind the scenes that will leave you scratching your head.
1. The show finale was left open-ended on purpose.
Yes, you read that right. The show's writers decided to leave the finale with an open ending because they weren't sure if it would be coming back for a fifth season. When the third season ended, the writers and producers were surprised with the announcement that there was going to be a fourth season which forced them to come up with a story line quickly. They didn't want to have to go through that again so they planned for season five just in case. Fans were annoyed by the cliffhanger ended, especially when the fifth season never happened.
2. John Cena auditioned for the role of Ron Stoppable.
Before John Cena became the face of the WWE, he was at a crossroads in his career. He auditioned for the role of Ron Stoppable, but obviously didn't get it. It was this rejection that led him to focus on becoming a professional wrestler, which turned out to be the right decision.
3. Neil Patrick Harris also auditioned for the role of Ron Stoppable.
John Cena wasn't the only big name to audition for the role of Ron Stoppable on the show. Well established talent Neil Patrick Harris also went out for the part as he tried to move on from being known only as Doogie Howser M.D.
Again this rejection led to a huge leap in his career, as if he had gotten the gig he would never have gone on to become Barney Stinson on How I Met Your Mother.
4. Kim Possible broke Disney's 65 episode rule.
For some reason Disney had a rule that none of their shows would be allowed to eclipse 65 episodes. This had the effect of angering a lot of fans who had to deal with their favorite shows being cancelled while they were still in their prime.
Fans were ecstatic when Kim Possible was renewed for a fourth season, and this change in stance paved the way for other shows to break through this stupid rule.
5. Shaun Fleming was replaced because his voice changed.
When the fourth season of the show started you might have realized that the voice behind Kim's twin brothers had changed. Shaun Fleming had been the voice of Tim and Jim Possible for the first three seasons. Unfortunately for him, he hit puberty before the start of the fourth season which changed his voice, and he was quickly replaced.
6. Disney studio executives demanded an animal sidekick.
When the show was first put into productions, Disney executives demanded that there be an animal sidekick. The show's creators Bob Schooley and Mark McCorkle weren't happy about being told what to do with their own show so they decided to stick it to the execs with an amazing troll job. They created Rufus, the naked mole rat. This meant every time Rufus was mentioned, someone would have to say the word naked.
7. Christy Carlson Romano had to sacrifice her own prom for the show.
Romano started voicing the character of Kim Possible when she was still in high school. She was also working on two other projects at the same time, which made her own personal life a little chaotic. She was so busy that she even had to sacrifice going to her own prom because she had scheduling conflicts with recording the show.
8. An episode was banned in the Middle East and Northern Africa
It doesn't take much for a show to have some of its content banned in at least some part of the world. The episode "Ron the Man" was banned in the Middle East and Northern Africa because it was finally revealed that Ron Stoppable's character was actually Jewish. This also stopped the studio from dubbing the episode into Arabic.
