There's nothing funnier than something taking itself WAAAAAAAAY too seriously. Music is no exception, and these 10 songs try to be super serious but end up just making us laugh.
Disturbed - "Down With The Sickness"
This song walks the line of almost being badass, but between singer David Draiman's signature "OOO-WAH-AH-AH-AH" squawking and his teenage angst rant in the middle of the song, it's practically a parody of itself.
Crazy Town - "Butterfly"
Just look at this. We took this band seriously. We made this song a hit.
Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch - "Good Vibrations"
Remember when Academy Award-winning actor Mark Wahlberg was called Marky Mark and rapped about how hard he was? It was the 90s, but still, this really seems super hilarious given where he's come.
Simple Plan - "Untitled (How Could This Happen To Me)"
What tries to be a sincere song about losing your life in an accident becomes another overblown angst anthem from the Canadian kings of emo. Special note to the unintentionally hilarious video which has people literally flying against the walls.
Imogen Heap - "Hide and Seek"
This one isn't really the song's fault. The OC used it not once but TWICE to highlight its big, emotional episodes, and an internet meme was born. Now we can't hear it without laughing.
It only gets funnier from here...
William Shatner - "Rocket Man"
Captain James T. Kirk did a spoken word covers album in the 70s, and the results were ripe for parody.
Blink-182 - "I Miss You"
The song actually starts off pretty strong thanks to its muted strings and bassist Mark Hoppus' deep voice. But then Tom Delonge comes in with his nasal fratboy cadence and everything just gets hilarious.
R. Kelly - "Trapped In The Closet Chapter 1"
We're still not sure how serious this is ultimately supposed to be (it's always a crapshoot with R. Kelly) but how can you not explode laughing at him soulfully crooning "I pull out my Bereeeeeeeeeetta!"
Gerardo - "Rico Suave"
People actually thought this guy was legitimately smooth. What was wrong with us?
Lynyrd Skynyrd - "That Smell"
It's supposed to be about a member of the band being addicted to alcohol and "smelling like death," but come on, listen to that chorus and tell me it doesn't sound like a song about someone ripping a fart in the studio.
