15 Things We Had Before "Fidget Spinners" Were A Thing

When we were kids, we didn't have all these fidget spinners to flip around in our hands, but that doesn't mean that we didn't have something to play with! We had to keep our hands busy somehow and our ways were obviously the best.

<amp-img src="https://legacy.throwbacks.com/content/images/2017/05/Fidget-20spinner_1493326613948_9312478_ver1-0.JPG.jpg" title="" alt="" height="9" width="16" layout="responsive"></amp-img>

We had a bunch of different things to play with, each of them just as ridiculous as the ones they make now! I mean, some of these didn't even really do anything but we still collected them like crazy! How many do you remember?

1. Crazy Bones

<amp-img src="https://legacy.throwbacks.com/content/images/2017/05/Crazy-Bones.jpg" title="" alt="" height="9" width="16" layout="responsive"></amp-img>

These were essentially just plastic little figures that you would collect I guess? They were based on an ancient Greek game called Knucklebones (because they used sheep's knuckles) which was kind of similar to Jacks. Most of us didn't really play the game with them but for some reason we all collected them.

2. Pogs

<amp-img src="https://legacy.throwbacks.com/content/images/2017/05/56659821e9b89_sheldonsfans.jpg" title="" alt="" height="9" width="16" layout="responsive"></amp-img>

A lot like the Crazy Bones, these were just little pieces of cardboard cut into circles. You would have "battles" and hopefully get more.

3. Tech Deck Finger Skateboards

<amp-img src="https://legacy.throwbacks.com/content/images/2017/05/1080-Tailgrab-on-a-Tech-Deck-Step-4.jpg" title="" alt="" height="9" width="16" layout="responsive"></amp-img>

Well what's cooler than skateboarding? How about skateboarding with your fingers! So cool, so fun, so thrilling.

4. Cootie Catchers

<amp-img src="https://legacy.throwbacks.com/content/images/2017/05/anger-catcher-13-587x389.jpg" title="" alt="" height="9" width="16" layout="responsive"></amp-img>

I mean, we had to make the stuff we wanted to fidget with so obviously it was better right? A piece of paper telling you your fortune is bound to be accurate.

5. Tamagotchi

<amp-img src="https://legacy.throwbacks.com/content/images/2017/05/https-3A-2F-2Fblueprint-api-production-s3-amazonaws-com-2Fuploads-2Fcard-2Fimage-2F442953-2F78c7cab4-38d1-43f3-8ee6-b8e677916865.jpg" title="" alt="" height="9" width="16" layout="responsive"></amp-img>

We each had a special little pet who would need to be fed and played with all in a little egg shaped device. I think pretty much every teacher hated them because we would all have them in class and never pay attention.

6. Slap Bracelets

<amp-img src="https://legacy.throwbacks.com/content/images/2017/05/slap-bracelets.jpg" title="" alt="" height="9" width="16" layout="responsive"></amp-img>

Kids love these but really the noise is pretty irritating. Hearing them slap over and over again isn't the most fun, but we all did it!

7. Bead Lizards

<amp-img src="https://legacy.throwbacks.com/content/images/2017/05/61c68b4f2bbee86c6b5aebf85aeb9506.jpg" title="" alt="" height="9" width="16" layout="responsive"></amp-img>

We all worked so hard to make these and what did we do when we were done? Stick them to our backpacks of course!

Check out the next page to see if your biggest distraction is on the rest of the list!

8. Beyblades

<amp-img src="https://legacy.throwbacks.com/content/images/2017/05/-_32.JPG.jpg" title="" alt="" height="9" width="16" layout="responsive"></amp-img>

Kids would fidget with these all day if they were allowed but they got banned in a lot of schools.

9. Silly Bandz

<amp-img src="https://legacy.throwbacks.com/content/images/2017/05/1200px-Silly_Bandz_2009.jpg" title="" alt="" height="9" width="16" layout="responsive"></amp-img>

These were essentially elastic bands that were in the shapes of animals that kids wore on their wrists like a bracelet. Because it was SUPER stylish right?

10. Paper Footballs

<amp-img src="https://legacy.throwbacks.com/content/images/2017/05/katie-football.jpg" title="" alt="" height="9" width="16" layout="responsive"></amp-img>

These ones a classic that went through the generations but do kids today know about them? Who knows! But these were the best thing to do in the back of the classroom when the teacher wasn't looking.

11. Yo-Yo

<amp-img src="https://legacy.throwbacks.com/content/images/2017/05/New-Vintage-Traditional-Wooden-YOYO-YO-YO-Ball-Toys-Games-Gift-For-Children-Kids-03050152-.jpg" title="" alt="" height="9" width="16" layout="responsive"></amp-img>

Everyone had to learn how to "Walk the dog" or the "Elevator" otherwise what was the point of recess!?

12. Garbage Pail Kids Cards

<amp-img src="https://legacy.throwbacks.com/content/images/2017/05/a405bb5622613d3a677697bf7acc24ad.jpg" title="" alt="" height="9" width="16" layout="responsive"></amp-img>

Everyone needed to have a Garbage Pail Kids collection if they wanted to prove they were really in on the unique stuff!

13. Rubiks Cube

<amp-img src="https://legacy.throwbacks.com/content/images/2017/05/main-qimg-00189ec1a7ce82dafac740363eeee282-c.jpg" title="" alt="" height="9" width="16" layout="responsive"></amp-img>

These were probably the original Fidget spinners but they required a bit more skill. It took a lot of effort to figure those out and those who could were pretty awesome.

14. Hacky Sack

<amp-img src="https://legacy.throwbacks.com/content/images/2017/05/hakisak-331279007490uLxL.jpg" title="" alt="" height="9" width="16" layout="responsive"></amp-img>

They were pretty awesome if you were good at them. They were also basically a stress ball to play with during class.

15. Paper Boats/Paper Hats

<amp-img src="https://legacy.throwbacks.com/content/images/2017/05/maxresdefault-13.jpg" title="" alt="" height="9" width="16" layout="responsive"></amp-img>

Folding up the little boats was always the best and then after you learned to fold them properly you could race them against your classmates in the puddles during recess!

All of these things were pretty ridiculous but we loved them just as much as kids today love fidget spinners.

<amp-img src="https://legacy.throwbacks.com/content/images/2017/05/800x-1.jpg" title="" alt="" height="9" width="16" layout="responsive"></amp-img>

Which were you addicted to as a kid? Maybe it's not the greatest that a lot of us still feel young, but times have changed since our parents were in their 30s. We've learned how to chill out and take our time in our lives. Ikea Is Bringing Back The Couch Of Your Nightmares, And People Have A Lot To Say About It

Remember when you were growing up and you'd go hang out in the living room for hours and hours, never leaving your spot on the couch? Well, honestly I can't pretend much has changed, other than the fact that the couch has fewer flowers on it than ever before. Most people stick to a single color now, but back in the day there was apparently nothing more desirable than a good floral pattern. Big flowers, small flowers, pinks ones, or blue, every combination was waiting for you. We've all seen a lot of bad couches in our days, but when

There's Now Only One Blockbuster Left, But It Refuses To Give Up

We've all known for a while that Blockbuster was basically a lost cause. Most Blockbuster locations closed down many years ago, leaving behind their empty buildings that look like they house all the ghosts of the 90s. However there were a few places where Blockbuster Video refused to die. There were six locations remaining in Alaska, and one in Bend, Oregon, but this weekend marks a sad moment. All of the Alaskan Blockbusters have been officially closed. Four had actually been closed earlier in the year, but this weekend the final two locations closed their doors for good. But don't

10 Things That Helped Us All Survive Elementary School In The 90s

Going to elementary school is something that we all had to do, but we all had different experiences. Socially, elementary school was a battlefield. It was exhausting and more dramatic than it needed to be, but at least we all grew up before the internet was a thing. Nowadays kids have to deal with their bullies following them home, at least virtually, and never getting a chance to be alone. Even if it's from their friends, kids should have some time to themselves, right? Disney ChannelWell, when we grew up in the 90s, times were just a lot simpler. Who

5 Reasons Why The Scholastic Book Fair Will Always Be The Best Part Of Elementary School

Being in school 5 days a week is kind of like having a full time job, only instead of getting paid in money, you have to sit there and learn. You get sent home with homework, you have to write book reports, you have tests and presentations and all of it is a lot of effort for a growing brain. But there was a place, one beautiful reprieve from our tortuous experience where we could feel at peace. That place was the Scholastic Book Fair.
